CardKeeper

Privacy Policy

Last updated 30 August 2026

The short version: CardKeeper stores everything on your own device. We don't run a server, we don't have accounts, and we can't see your cards — there's simply nowhere for that data to go. This page covers what's specific to CardKeeper; see Essentia Tech's overall privacy approach for the philosophy behind it.

What CardKeeper stores

When you add a loyalty or membership card, CardKeeper saves the following on your device only, in a local database:

  • The card's name, barcode/QR value, and color or logo.
  • Photos you take of the card, cropped to what you framed.
  • An optional note you add yourself.

None of this is uploaded anywhere. It never leaves your phone unless you export it yourself (see below), and it's deleted immediately if you delete the card or uninstall the app.

Network requests

CardKeeper makes network requests in exactly one case: looking up a brand's logo. When you add or edit a card, the app sends the store's name or website domain (for example, aldi.nl) to icon.horse, a third-party logo/favicon service, and displays whatever image it returns.

No card numbers, photos, notes, or any other personal data are ever included in these requests — only the brand name or domain, the same information printed on the card itself or its website.

Backup & export

You can export your cards to a single file, encrypted with a password you choose. CardKeeper doesn't store that password and can't recover it for you. Where you save the exported file — Google Drive, a USB stick, wherever — is entirely up to you; we never see it or have access to it.

What CardKeeper does not do

  • No account or sign-in of any kind.
  • No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
  • No data sold, shared, or transmitted to us — we don't operate any server the app talks to.
  • Camera access is used only to photograph a card and scan its barcode, on-device, via Google's ML Kit — images are never uploaded anywhere.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new date above. Continuing to use CardKeeper after a change means you accept the updated policy.
